An EBook Book Reader From Acer Set To Join Amazon.Com
Acer Inc., no one's fool when it comes to contending in the computer space, have announced their plans to enter the ebook book reader arena later on this year.
Acer senior manager Jim Wong, head of the companies IT Products branch, outlined the strategy in an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's HQ in Taipei.
The day before Apple's supposed entrance into the tablet sweeps-a device that will serve e-book readers with others-Wong also said the company will what's more present "hundreds" of apps online, programs which will support Google's Android program, now running on several Acer products, over and above having support for Microsoft's Windows OS.
Before this summer is out, Acer will be expected to make available an electronic-book reader with a 6-inch black and white display, Mr. Wong told Bloomberg. "Amazon.com and B&N; they are U.S.-centric. In Western Europe and Asia-Pacific we have publishers to work with, and nearly all of them are subject matter owners," he alleged. Acer will go up in opposition to devices including the Amazon dx , B and N Inc.'s Nook and Sony's Prs-30 and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-if it appears-to contend with. "We're producing something, and we will see what happens" J.T. Wang, Acer's chairman, said in the commentary. "We're going to perform moreover in a Windows world or in Google's defined OS space."
