Exactly what are political forums? It is usually a subscription site established to discuss different events, different opinions and breaking news in the field of national politics. The better discussion boards are those which have no political bias i.e. they are not pro Democrat or Republican but have been established with the intention of encouraging open and honest debate with members holding different opinions.
The owner and moderators on the internet site should promote exchange of opinions as this will make the site more popular and therefore will attract more traffic and resulting members. But they should also moderate the political forums the right way. While arguments are frequent when any person discusses state policies, it shouldn't be a justification for a member to abuse another. The moderator's role in a political discussion board is to prevent the debate descending into personal attacks. As well they do not want to stop an interesting argument. It is not an easy job but most individuals can easily differentiate between someone that is expressing a viewpoint and the ones that are just trying to be troublesome.
There is a reason why you probably should never discuss sex, religion or national politics at a get together. People are likely to hold really strong opinions on the subject. Some individuals educate themselves about the different subjects and come to political forums to discuss these subjects. They are willing to listen to what the other individuals think and will on occasion be convinced by the debate to change their mind on that particular matter.
But you even have those people that have followed a certain party because that is what their friends and family always voted. They may not completely understand the reason why they are a Democrat or a Republican but they will oppose the policies of the relevant party to the last. These individuals tend to start quoting the Constitutional right to freedom of speech when you try to state the point. Sometimes it is useless trying to get into a debate with them and the best thing is to leave and find political forums populated with individuals that are much more broad minded.
