One method that works well is the distraction method as this involves diverting their interest onto something else, making them forget what they were getting angry about whilst having a tantrum.
You can even overlook their bad behaviour, so as not to give them the attention they need, and reward good behaviour. If they behave badly then you could also create a time out zone in the home where you can put them in for a few minutes which will give them some time to think about their improper behaviour.
