Most of us, when we go out and mingle with our friends and take coffee in our favorite coffee stores, we can't help but order a slice of the delicious and oh-so-scrumptious coffee cakes they offer. However, when asked, do you even know what a coffee cake is?
In majority of coffee shops, they generally state that they specialize in coffee cakes and coffee cake recipes, that they've coffee cakes offered, in which, is one of the main reasons why the majority of people usually believe that coffee cakes, are well, cakes that are made of coffee, or whose main component is coffee. However, that my friend is a very incorrect way of defining what a coffee cake is. In fact, coffee cakes are not made out of coffee. Most of them don't even have the slightest pinch of coffee in their list of components. But, why are they called coffee cakes if they aren't made out of coffee? Good question.
Coffee Cakes are called coffee cakes, that's because they're the perfect complimentary dish or dessert for the oh-so-bitter beverage we all have come to know and love, coffee. To put things simply, coffee tastes bitter, coffee cake is sweet. These coffee cakes may vary from honey cakes, to flat cakes, to chocolate coffee cakes, vanilla, cinnamon, and so on and so forth. The list simply goes on and on. Their association with coffee can very well be the main reason why they are named coffee cakes, instead of their more familiar names, such as chocolate cakes and so on.
Hopefully, the next time you read or listen to the word coffee cake, you wouldn't think that it is a form of cake made out of coffee. Bear in mind, as I've said lots of times in this article, coffee cakes and coffee complements each other.
